Baby Blue and Pink offers training for nurturing women who would like to become a DONA-certified Postpartum Doula. If you are the woman who says with a big smile, “I LOVE babies!”, this is your opportunity to turn that love into something more: to help newborns get a beautiful start in life as you nurture them and their familes!
DONA-Certified Postpartum Doula
A postpartum doula is trained to provide support and education for the mother, father, baby, and extended family during the first three months of the baby’s new life with them. (There are also ‘birth doulas’ who attend the laboring mother during delivery.) She is trained to recognize special needs and refer to appropriate resources. She is a teacher and source of information as she helps care for the new baby and nurture the family.
A postpartum doula offers evidence-based information on newborn care, infant feeding (breast or bottle), mother care and coping skills for new parents. She helps with some of the tasks necessary to keep the family running smoothly during this busy time. She has been trained in an intensive classroom setting and then has achieved (or is working towards) certification by DONA or some other certifying body. Her expertise and non-judgmental support create a calm experience for the new family, while encouraging them to develop their own parenting style. A Message from Marcia
Welcome to the wonderful world of newborns and their mothers! I’m so glad you are the nurturing kind of woman who loves babies and wants to help their mothers in every way you can to have a calm and beautiful experience as she bonds with her new baby… or babies! I was trained and certified by DONA International, first as a doula, and then as a faculty member trained to offer certification preparation for this professional career. I’ve had extensive education and training in childbirth recovery, newborn care (including preemies, twins and triplets), breastfeeding support and infant nutrition, postpartum mood disorders, colic, acid reflux and infant development.
I’ve earned my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) certification, teach breastfeeding classes for parents and professionals, newborn care classes for parents, and business and marketing skills for professional doulas. I am well-known in the area as a dedicated professional with a passion for helping new parents and families get off to a great start. As a trainer, I’m committed to helping women be successful professionally in a full- or part-time career doing what they love: nurturing babies and moms.
